News: The Tickets for Beijing 2008 Summer Games are Selling Fast

Beijing 2008 Summer Games

Why the Tickets are so Hot This Year

The 2008 Summer Game, officially known as the Games of the XXIX games, will be held in Beijing, China from August 8, 2008 to August 24, 2008, with the opening ceremony to take place at 8 p.m. on August 8, 2008 (08-08-08; the number 8 is associated with prosperity in Chinese culture). Some events, like beach volleyball, sailing, and open water swimming, will be held in the coastal city of Qingdao. On July 8, 2005, the Official Committee announced that Hong Kong will hold the equestrian events at the site of the Hong Kong Sports Institute in Fo Tan, Sha Tin. The facilities of the Sports Institute may be moved to Wu Kai Sha. This will be the second time the same season of Summer Games has been hosted by two National summer games Committees. (A similar arrangement was in place between Melbourne, Australia, and Stockholm, Sweden, for the 1956 summer games).

It has never been so hot. The tickets for summer games game in Beijing have nearly been sold out. But people are still sending tremendous emails asking for tickets such as Opening and Closing Ceremony.

Back to 2004, when the ticket booking for Sydney summer games began, the similar situation has never happened before. The reason why the tickets for Sydney were sufficient is because the Australian committee distributed tickets worldwide and because there are only 20 million people living in Australia (the same number people of Shanghai city), the tickets were far more than enough. But this year, things get worse. The Chinese official summer games committee controls 75% of tickets for domestic using, then distribute only 25% to overseas. So in market, the tickets for Beijing summer games 2008 are very short. The tickets of Opening ceremony for selling are so hot that in 2 days all tickets are sold out in China.

Those who want to book tickets, will have to be hurry otherwise people will have to wait for another century to see Summer Games in China.
