The FA Cup Final is the last match in the FA Cup, the oldest football tournament in the world. It is the culmination of a knockout competition among clubs belonging to The Football Association in England.
Early FA Cup Finals were held at various venues, mainly in London. Since 1923 the final has been held at Wembley Stadium, English footballs national stadium. In the period from 2001-2005, the final was moved to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, during the rebuilding of Wembley Stadium. Owing to construction delays the planned reopening of the the new Wembley Stadium could not be guaranteed in time for the 2006 final, and the Millennium Stadium was used again.
In 1993, the FA decided that there would no longer be replays, and that the final would be decided on the day.
