Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2008
Set against majestic
backdrop of Edinburgh Castle the tattoo is simply un-missable. Scotland's 2008
military musical extravaganza will feature The Royal
Air Force including their renowned Massed Military Bands
and Queen's Colour Squadron together with the world-famous
Massed Pipes & Drums, Massed Highland Dancers, the
haunting sound of the Lone Piper, and acts from across
the globe, including India, South Africa, New Zealand
and the Far East played in the unique setting of historic
Edinburgh Castle.
The 2008 Edinburgh Military Tattoo will run from Friday 1 August until Saturday 23 August with performances on Monday to Friday at 9.00pm and on Saturday at 7.30pm and 10.30pm. There is no performance on Sundays. Full details will be available in November.

- Doors open 45 minutes before performance.
- Duration of programme: 1.5 hours.
- Children of 3 and under admitted free of charge provided they sit on an adults lap.
- TV recording: on these evenings the programme is being recorded by the BBC for worldwide transmission. Join us if you wish to be part of these performances.
- Preview - Thursday 31 July 2008 at 9.30pm. A limited number of half price tickets will be available for sale from 10.00am (BST) on Monday 21 July 2008 (telephone and counter bookings only).

Background of Edinburgh Military Tattoo
The event is a show by the military bands and teams in Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland, British Empire. When the british army went to the Low Countries, the word "tattoo" came out in the 17th centry. Each morning the drummers were sent out to summon the soldiers to return to their own stations. The first tattoo began in 1950th. It has only eight items. Today every year over 22,000 people went to see the tattoo in Edinburgh. Nowadays the event has become a festival also known as "Edinburgh Military Festival". In Australia, the festival is broadcasted by ABC. The current Patron of the event is Princess Anne. It is not a surprise that every year the tickets were sold out months before the day.
