18-4-2008	Successful Olympic qualification! After 10 weeks of traveling around Europe competing, I'm finally back in Australia . The good news is that I qualified for the Olympic Games! I'm so thrilled and excited to be going to Beijing ! In the next few months I'll continue to train intensively as well as compete in additional tournaments to improve on my world ranking. Rankings will be determined for the Olympics based on points as of 1 August this year. Upcoming competitions are the Asian Fencing Championships in Bangkok , and World Cup events in Nanjing , Montreal and Havana . In July I hope to go to Europe for a couple of weeks to train intensively. Then in August I'm Beijing-bound! Funding remains an issue with continuing travel expenses, so any sponsorship assistance would be most appreciated. Thanks for your support and keep wishing me luck!
6-3-2008	I'm currently in Europe, competing each weekend on the women's epee A-grade circuit, trying to qualify for the Beijing Olympics. In order to qualify I need to earn world-ranking points by placing in the top 64 in these competitions. This is harder than it sounds with often over 130 fencers in competitions! At the end of the qualification period need to be ranked within the top few fencers in the Asia-Pacific zone. So it doesn't just depend on my results, but the results of the other competitors as well. The competitions so far have gone well, the highlight being a personal best top 16 place in Prague . At the moment things are looking promising but I wont know for sure until the cut-off period in mid-March. My coach is joining me again for the final competitions this and next weekend in St Petersburg (Russia) and Florina (Greece). Hopefully with the help of some lessons and good advice he can help me pull out some good results. Thanks for your support and wish me luck! Amber
